Melbourne Water MUSIC Guidelines 2023/24 Release A

The long awaited update to the Melbourne Water MUSIC Guidelines to support stormwater modelling has been released.

'Release A' includes new material including guidance on modelling wetlands with independent or independent upstream sediment ponds, multi-inlet wetlands and introduces permeable paving as a new treatment type.
Other material includes improved guidance on routing and links as well as developing custom stage-storage-discharge curves.
The guidelines introduce three new climate templates to replace two of the existing ones. These help to address known issues with the existing templates and will enable modelling with greater confidence and accuracy.

The new guidelines as well as rainfall regions and templates are available here:

Melbourne Water's Healthy Waterways Strategy as well as the EPA stormwater management guidance set out new objectives for stormwater flow volume reductions.
Further guidance on emerging asset types and a Release B are well progressed. These will enable the achievement and modelling of stormwater flow volume reductions to deliver on stormwater flow volume objectives to better protect our waterways.
